Beta-testing

permalink add this

Well, lately I’ve been beta-testing some new stuff:

Newsvine is a newsite. It competes with Digg and Slashdot, but it has a much nicer interface. Like Slashdot users can contribute and write articles, and like Digg, users can add links to categories. It has the benefit of both, and I think it’s awsome. Even has a great interface. If anyone wants to try out Newsvine, email me and I’ll send you an invite (I only have 20).

HipCal is a community calendar. Each user gets their own calendar, and can also participate in a user calendar. Very user friendly, and you can search for other users to create a group with too.

Writely is basically Microsoft Word/OpenOffice for the internet. It brings it a step better though, you can collaborate with other users and keep saved copies, etc. I like the quick features so far.

BlinkList is okay…. kinda hard to use, i find it a pain when i have to submit a link for it to be saved… I prefer the drag and drop method.

Remember the Milk is a to-do list, or a reminder thing. Pretty cool, lets you import from calendars, and sends notices to email/im/phone.

Meebo is like Trillian/Adium online. Pretty neat features, great AJAX integration.

Some cool articles on Newsvine:

Added: Oh yeah, Izzy is an exception because this wasn’t up and I didn’t read the guidlines carefully, but anyone I invite, I am basically vouching that they are good writers. So, I don’t want to invite a spammer by mistake. Please leave your blog address so I can check it out and if I feel like vouching for you, then I’ll send you an invite. If I don’t… well, your inbox may feel lonely.

I'm not finished with the design of my blog quite yet, please hold on while I fix the comments, archives, and search templates.

If you have an extra invite for Newsvine, I’d certainly appreciate one. I’ve been reading all about, and it sounds very interesting.

    Thank you!

Just curious what you meant about this comment about BlinkList: “submit a link for it to be saved… I prefer the drag and drop method”. I love BlinkList and use it all the time. ~Dawn Isaac

Well it has been 75 days since I wrote you that first comment! I was trying to remember when I first met you. Then I remembered I made a comment about BlinkList. And how you found my new blog.

I am wondering if you use any social bookmarking sites right now. I am looking for your username if you have one. Be interesting to see what you are bookmarking. I have signed up with tons of sites but BlinkList is what I use mostly.
