Blogger at top of everything “blog” searched

permalink add this

Everyone uses Google search. I bet even Yahoo people use Google search. Which is why I think it’s important that Google keeps its search engine fair. Lately, they’ve been ‘advertising’ Blogger as “hints” on any search that has the word “blog” in it.

Blogger AdI read before how Google puts ads for its own products in the top 5 placements for searches and website ads, but I didn’t believe it. I also didn’t want to believe it. But what Google is doing now, it’s so in your face there’s nothing you can do except believe it.

Think of how much companies would pay to have their product come as a “hint” for every search related to a particular term. Just because Google owns the search engine, I don’t think it should be able to bend it’s own rules and put itself at the top… unless of course it’s already in the Terms of Use, in that case I guess I’ve been using Google all this time knowing that would happen, eh? ;)

I'm not finished with the design of my blog quite yet, please hold on while I fix the comments, archives, and search templates.

Good point on companies paying for “Tips:” placement. Maybe that’s the next logical step?

Another flip side is Google straying away from advertisers and joining with wiki groups and allowing the group best informed on the topic to “vote” the Tips placement. How’s that?

You’re welcome to grab my RS logo resized for this theme so you’re doens’t look jagged. I’ve told you about the desperate wanting comments thing haven’t I!? :D

Thanks, I’ll grab that logo from you then. :P
That’s actually a good idea, regarding Google joining the wiki groups, but I doubt they’d implement something like that, it wouldn’t become bring in (good) revenue.
